Retroist Sega Master System Podcast

Retroist Sega Master System Podcast

Welcome to the Retroist Sega Master System Podcast. Today’s show is about the often overlooked console, the Sega Master System. The show starts with me talking about my experiences with the system. Then we get into the system itself. I talk about the evolution of the system, its struggles, its triumphs and of course the games. Metagirl returns with the top 5 list. KillScreen256 wows us with system info and collector facts.

We have a new podcaster this week, Brian Boone, who takes a peak at the wacky and wonderful in the world of Sega Games. It is a jam-packed show!

  1. I had a Master System; I wanted an NES, but it would be a couple of years more before I got one. The only games I remember having were some weird space shmup, Shooting Gallery for the gun, Monopoly, Hang-On, and Rambo. The best game I ever played on the system was Spy Vs. Spy though, which was my first introduction to versus multiplayer.

I only knew two people who had a Master System growing up. Even though I was NES owner, I gotta say there were titles I was definetly jealous of. I remember when I got my Master system and got to play Alex Kidd, Alien Syndrome, and Ganster Town. Totally awesome!

Hi Retroist, greetings from germany. I really like your podcast.
When I had a Master System II in the early 90’s it was fun, but I remember the gamepad to be cumbersome. The Mega Drive flashed me more than any other console did. So, now I play the old Sega titles on my PS3. Isn’t that weird?

  4. Never owned this system but remembered playing it at a friends house playing their wrestling game thinking this game was crap compared to my NES and didnt give it a second thought. Altered Beast was awful Cool though.
