A couple of years back, my mother asked me to clean out a part of her basement that we lovingly referred to as "the closet." It was a kind of makeshift storage area where we stashed away big items we no longer used but weren't ready to part with just yet. As I sifted through the piles of basement junk that weekend, I discovered a treasure trove of memories. But one find, in particular, left me in shock - an old slide that my mother had gotten for me at a Flea Market when I was just a kid.

Now, you might wonder why it was shocking. Well, I had vivid memories of this slide from my childhood. I would climb up that ladder and slide down again and again, spending hours having the time of my life. In my imagination, it was like a towering piece of Disney's Magic Kingdom that had magically found its way into our own backyard. But as I pulled it out of the basement, my adult eyes were met with reality - it was tiny! Barely reaching up to my waist, it seemed so much smaller than I remembered. I couldn't help but stare at it in disbelief.

You know, I always cherished the fun I had on that slide as a kid, and its small size didn't diminish those memories. But rediscovering it as an adult sort of shattered the grand image I had built in my mind. It's one of those rare instances where I would have preferred not to have revisited a childhood toy. Sometimes, the magic of our memories is best left untainted by reality.

Nonetheless, the joy I experienced on that tiny slide as a kid remains a cherished part of my childhood. It's a reminder of the simple pleasures and boundless imagination we had as children, and no matter the size, those memories will always hold a special place in my heart.

Remember when Mickey Mouse decided to commit suicide?
Unless you lived in the 1930s or are a fan of vintage comic strips you might not be aware of the attempted Mickey Mouse suicide.
