I've been running it on my tablet when it is docked on my desk during work. I've had it on almost all day every work day for about a month now, I mute it during meetings. It has almost become pavlovian for me, because when I don't have it on it feels like something is "off" and I'm slightly agitated. Work has been stressful recently and I find just having this on quietly in the background to be very comforting, plus I get accurate weather info any time I want!

I used to love The Landscape Channel.

It was pretty much the same in Canada, except the degrees were in Celsius, not Fahrenheit.

You can select Celsius in one of the menu item under the window. Even better, I found an international version that will accept input from Environment Canada!

Great article. I remember when the "weatherman" drew on a whiteboard with a magic marker.

I remember this so well. What a great post.

My father-in-law still has the weather channel running all day. The man never leaves the house so why does he need the weather channel? It's because seeing the weather everywhere constantly cycling through makes the world seem a little less crazy and out-of-control. It creates calm. And as sailors and pilots we can't help ourselves when it comes to weather.

I have visited a few of the Vintage Computer Festivals over the year (https://vcfed.org/). The first one that I visited (VCF East) I (along with many others) were blown away from The Weather Channel hardware display. It was amazing... https://youtu.be/O53G7CUZ1K0?si=t0ui_5KEWgbm-3hW&t=516

This is the start of "second screen" culture! Truly one of the nostalgic contants that you didn't know you missed until you noticed it was gone. Thanks for bringing this up!
