Goodness gracious- another soda brand I never heard of before. Obviously this didn't make it into the Canadian market, although I do remember the rival Sunkist version being sold there as C Plus.

...and now Coke has retired Minute Maid, so its seems fruit juice has lost its appeal, in or not in soda form.

There was also Slice Red. I don't remember ever trying it, but it was around long enough to have two different can designs (check ebay)

Slice was great, but what brands competed with it in the late 80s, causing it to lose market share?

It appeared to be the novelty of the juice claim losing traction against established brands in the space people returned to. 7up, Sprite, Sunkist, etc.

That's a shame. It definitely felt that non-healthy "juice sodas/drinks" were bigger in the 80s/90s than now, with Hawaiian Punch, Slice, Deleware Punch, later on Fruitopia etc.

If I'm not mistaken, I also remember a Dr. Slice, one of the many Dr. Pepper variants on the shelves in the 90s. It was tasty, but I'd be hard-pressed to remember exactly what kind of spices were in there.

Thanks for the article!

I think it hit shelves around 1994. I know I had some at some point just to try it. Maybe something like a more cherry forward Dr Pepper.

That's probably why I liked it so much. Any kind of cherry soda was my favorite.

Love this! Thank you! I really enjoy the reboot, even after having the original in the 80s (I will say the orange flavor does not hold up, but I do enjoy the grapefruit and rootbeer flavors).

I didn't try those flavors. I will need to give them a shot.

Pepsi always seemed to have a problem marketing their lemon limes.

Fido Dido! I used to have a t-shirt with him on it in the early 90s!
