I'm really sorry to hear this. I was recently planning a trip to Seattle and I was hoping they'd reopen by the time I got there. It's a great concept - the museum curators should be proud of what they accomplished.
This place sounds amazing. Sad that it’s gone and I never got to visit. There are so many museums close to me that I always say I should to, radio museums, tv museums, etc but never seem to make it. Definitely gonna try harder to actually do it.
I was sad to hear about this. I donated an old Atari 800 computer to them about ten years ago, and they sent me a picture of the donor plaque (which I no longer have.)
They did some amazing stuff and got better at little details over time. They did a second interactive space that had an office, a small arcade, and a school computer lab. Some things I gave them were in the computer lab.
I should have put that in the post. It was largely funded by Paul Allen. When he passed away suddenly, nothing was in place to keep it going. The directive in his will seems to be to liquidate his assets and donate the proceeds to charity.

Wish I had one these close to where I live. A great loss. The retro 70s Atari room was awesome I can imagine.

I only went once in 2018 and meant to go again when it re-opened. Luckily, I took pictures of everything when I was there.
Any reasons given for its demise?

Oh man, that place looked awesome! I wish I had the opportunity to experience it. Especially the retro living room with an Atari! 🕹
