Listened to this today as it's one of my all-time faves; even got to see it on the big screen at Alamo Drafthouse in 2024! Couple of extra facts about the music for ya:
-Though Cooder's score has not been released in its entirety, there's a 1995 compilation titled "Music By Ry Cooder" that features "Bomber Bash" from SOF.
-Tom Petty's original version of "Never Be You" was released recently on the deluxe edition of "Long After Dark." That makes yet another collab between him and Maria McKee, as he wrote "Ways to Be Wicked" for her band Lone Justice. Worth checking out!
-The songs "Sorceror," "I Can Dream About You," "Never Be You," and "Countdown to Love" in the film feature different vocalists from the soundtrack LP. (Stevie Nicks has released her own version of "Sorceror" too)
-Meat Loaf's album "Bad Attitude" features a different version of "Nowhere Fast."
No way! I missed seeing this one, too!? I just found out about "Rock & Rule" from 1983 (animated fantasy/scifi/horror rock opera with Debbie Harry, Robin Zander, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Maurice White) that I never knew about either.

I just rewatched it and I have been thinking of doing a Rock & Rule podcast lately!
