This is one of my favorite shows growing up. I was too young to watch it in real time, so I caught all of the reruns aired in the late 80s. The one trend that I always thought was kind of played out was the season openers in seasons 2-4 involved K.I.T.T. getting destroyed. In seasons 3 and 4 it involved him getting "upgraded" as a result. I'm not sure what they could have done in a season 5 opener to emulate the same approach and what capabilities they would add to him. It's kind of ironic how important it was to upgrade K.I.T.T. each season, similar to how technology in the real world has to progress to survive.
