Rare Halloween Treats: Nik-L-Nips
Halloween always brought a mix of treats, and some of them were real head-scratchers, sparking an appreciation for something unexpected. Take Nik-L-Nips, for example. These candies have been around for ages, and there was a candy store just up the block from my place that sold them loosely from a jar. Surprisingly, they were rarely consumed, despite being sugary and inexpensive.
However, everything changed when I received these Tootsie Roll Industries-made candies during Halloween. Suddenly, my friends and I couldn't get enough of them, and our usual hangout spots were soon littered with chewed wax remnants. It was quite a sight. We went through the candy store's supply in no time and even turned our attention to every other waxy, liquid-filled treat we could find, including the generic tubes from the local drugstore.
Now, I'm not saying that Nik-L-Nips will be the Halloween treat kids appreciate the most, as they probably won't. However, these candies might pique their curiosity and introduce them to this retro treat.
