Thanks. I was having memories of sitting at my family's kitchen table with my D&D books planning adventures and listening to music. Thought it would be a nice time to reunite them one last time. Wish I still had my original headphones, but they are long gone.
Agreed, the Panasonic Way was miles ahead of its peers, I was only 13 but I could totally tell. My older sister had one and I'll never forget those soft touch controls which were of different tactile shapes so you could control the playback without looking. Tapes we loved on the Way: The Jam The Gift, The KInks Give the People What They Want, The Police Ghost in the Machine...
In 1982, my friend got a Walkman for Christmas. He was using it all the time he was not in class and I wish I could have one too. No, my parents could not afford it just for me. Nevertheless, I waited until 1990, to get the yellow Walkman Sport, which I still have to this day. It still works! But I don't listen to cassettes much these days...
The picture of the two women listening together is priceless.
It always made me laugh.
Love the photo of the player on the D&D handbook!

Funny, I can also remember the tapes I loved because they were either always in the player or I was figuring out a way to tote them around.

I still have a Walkman Sport that I picked up in the late 90s used. Not the greatest sound, but amazing how well it still works.
