There was this one particular toy store in our favorite mall, and they had a knack for setting up elaborate toy displays at the entrance. These were the kinds of toys that moved and made noise, and they were like a siren's call to kids. I was no exception. As soon as we approached the store, I would detach from my family and become transfixed by these clattering contraptions, eagerly waiting for my turn to play with the remote-controlled cars.

The Mickey Mouse Fun Castle Roller Coaster was a standout for me. It was in constant motion and featured Disney characters, two things I couldn't resist.

I would stand by the table where it was displayed, staring and poking at it, occasionally slowing down a character or changing the order in which they rode. It was love at first sight, and my family clearly recognized this. Not too long after I discovered it, the coaster appeared under our Christmas tree. I would run it non-stop, going through batteries every few days because I often fell asleep with it still on. While this behavior was frowned upon, it was indulged.

About a year later, I had forgotten that the coaster was on the floor by my bed. When I hopped out of bed one morning, I stepped right on it and fell. I ended up with some scratches from the fall, and sadly, the coaster didn't survive in a usable state. I did, however, keep the cars as a reminder of the great fun I had with my Mickey Mouse Fun Castle Roller Coaster.

Remember when Mickey Mouse decided to commit suicide?
Unless you lived in the 1930s or are a fan of vintage comic strips you might not be aware of the attempted Mickey Mouse suicide.
