Ah, the infamous perm phase – a memory that still baffles me to this day. You see, my sisters and mother all decided to dive headfirst into this strange trend, and I couldn't quite fathom why. I never considered myself a hair expert, but their locks looked way better before they introduced those unnatural-looking curls and waves. Yet, everyone they encountered at that time showered them with compliments, so I played along, not wanting to hurt their feelings.

It felt like some massive conspiracy, a giant perm joke, and I just couldn't unravel the mystery behind it all. Looking back, I can only speculate that they were all victims of some bad perms and wanted to make my sister feel better by jumping on the permed-hair bandwagon. Or perhaps people were just being terribly cruel, encouraging others to change their hair into something less attractive. I even came up with this term "hair advantage," which I just invented, to describe their quest for some mysterious hair upgrade in the 1980s.

To this day, I tread carefully when people ask for my opinion on their hair. I mean, who am I to judge after witnessing the perm trend disaster? My exposure to those wild perm days has left a permanent scar on my hair judgment abilities.

You know, while reminiscing about this peculiar era, I stumbled upon an ad for Lilt Softperm, a do-it-yourself perm product for home use. It made me wonder if the woman in the ad actually used Lilt at home or had her hair professionally done. And, honestly, I couldn't help but wonder how her hair looked before the Lilt transformation. So many unanswered questions that could drive a person crazy with "perm madness."

So, if there's one piece of advice I can give, it's this: think twice before making any drastic changes to your hair. Trust me; you don't want to end up in a perm predicament like my family did. Sometimes, the grass is not greener on the curly side. Embrace your natural beauty and avoid any potential "perm madness" – that's the lesson I learned, and it's one I'll carry with me forever.

Remember when Mickey Mouse decided to commit suicide?
Unless you lived in the 1930s or are a fan of vintage comic strips you might not be aware of the attempted Mickey Mouse suicide.
