I have similar feelings about the Wonderland LP “Alfred Hitchcock Presents Ghost Stories for Young People” introduced by Hitchcock himself and narrated by John Allen - released in 1962 and rereleased many times over the 70s and 80s. Great montage of scary tales I’ll share with my 6 year old this year. It’s readily available on YouTube if interested.

This proudly still sits in my collection and will undoubtedly make its way on to the turntable this week.

My family blasted the 1973 edition out of the windows on Halloween

Loved and still have the 1973 record!

This was a delightfully nostalgic read. My parents owned a copy of the 1973 edition — its bright orange cover is vivid in my memory — and I listened to it countless times on my portable record player.

I’m surprised that I’ve never seen this before! It’s the kind of thing my mom would have bought for my brother and I, for sure! Now I feel like I missed out!

Great article, thanks!

I either had this as a child or a slightly different version. For some reason I'm remembering narrations that went along with the Haunted Mansion at Disney World on one side. I used to make a blanket tent and play the sound effects, imagining I was hiding on the moors the narrator spoke of in the beginning.

My grandma had that 1979 version, I loved that as a kid.

The book "Mouse Tracks" by Tim Hollis is a definitive literary history of Walt Disney Records.

Thanks, added that to the reading queue!
