-"Village Roadshow, Australiaโs largest video distributor at the time."
Is this any relation to Village Roadshow Pictures, which has released several motion pictures in North America via Warner Brothers?
-The only time I really encountered a VCR game in my life was with one my family had based on "The Honeymooners". At least that had the advantage of getting me interested in that show.
Yes, same larger Village Roadshow world, though the corporate structure gets a little twisty. They started in Australian cinemas, moved into distribution, and later the Village Roadshow Pictures name became tied to those Warner Bros. co productions. Glad you mentioned the Honeymooners VCR game. I hadn't thought about that one in years. An excellent gateway into the show.
Wow, not sure how knowledge of this escaped me all of these years. Very cool!
And donโt forget about VCR Quarterback! ๐
Good call on VCR Quarterback. That whole period when games were trying to make the VCR part of the experience was so interesting and novel.
A VCR football game?
My buddy & I couldn't stop laughing when we heard "Illegal Crackback" for the first time.
