Anyone else miss Cherry Cola Slice?
Ah, the memories of the 1980s and the soda-drinking phase many of us went through. I, too, found myself caught up in the world of "Slice" beverages. You see, Slice replaced another soda I enjoyed called Teem, so it felt like a natural transition for me. However, my love for Slice didn't truly take off until they introduced Mandarin Orange Slice. That flavor had me hooked!
But then, something exciting happened in the soda world. Coca-Cola released Cherry Coke, and in response, Slice fired back with their own version called Cherry Cola Slice. Now, for some reason, that particular combination of cherry and cola spoke directly to my soda-loving senses. Maybe it was the 10% fruit juice that gave it that extra something.
Unfortunately, my joy was short-lived. Cherry Cola Slice lasted only two years before being replaced by Wild Cherry Pepsi. It was a dark day for Cherry Cola enthusiasts like myself. While Wild Cherry Pepsi had an amazing name, it just couldn't compare to the unique flavor of Slice's Cherry Cola. To this day, whenever I have a Cherry Cola (which is usually a Coke), I can still detect hints of what made Cherry Cola Slice so special. It's like the essence of Cherry Cola Slice still lingers in the complex blend of cherry and cola flavors, swirling within the fizzy, cold sweetness of the soda.
As you can probably tell from this post, Cherry Cola Slice made a lasting impact on me. A part of me always holds out hope to see it on store shelves again in some form or another, but alas, all these years have passed, and there's been no sign of it.
I'm curious, did anyone else out there enjoy Cherry Cola Slice as much as I did? It would be great to hear if there are others who share this soda nostalgia and remember the unique flavor that once tantalized our taste buds.
