If It’s a Game – The Pac-Man Album
Share

As a kid, I have vivid memories of perching on the floor of a dimly lit, wood-paneled bedroom. My cherished hand-me-down portable record player, bearing the scars of previous use, was strategically placed near the sole available outlet by the door. Its gentle hum filled the room as I embarked on my musical journeys.

Placing the Pac-Man Picture disc album onto the turntable was akin to opening a portal to a different realm. As the stylus met the vinyl, I'd find myself sprawled on my back, captivated by the tunes crafted by Patrick McBride & Dana Walden. Their album served as an enchanting soundtrack that transported me to lands unknown.

Recently, prompted by memories of crafting a Pac-Man podcast, I revisited this treasured album. As the needle met the grooves, a sense of nostalgia enveloped me. Amidst the everyday tasks, a track named "If It's a Game" resonated deeply. Instinctively, I halted all activity, closed my eyes, and allowed the music to paint an ethereal landscape before me. It was a moment of pure immersion, a brief respite where reality blurred into the realm of fantastical gameplay.

The power of music to trigger such vivid memories and emotions remains a testament to the enduring impact of art on our lives. "If It's a Game," with its melodic allure, serves as a testament to the resonance of great songwriting—a composition that transcends time and space to conjure forth the essence of game-inspired wonder.

If you have a record player, you can still find a pretty affordable copy of The Pac-Man Album online. Of course, if you do not want the album (which would look great framed), you can find a lot of the songs from the album online for download.

Remember when Mickey Mouse decided to commit suicide?
Unless you lived in the 1930s or are a fan of vintage comic strips you might not be aware of the attempted Mickey Mouse suicide.
