I was at a McDonalds in New York with friends as a kid when we were approached by a friendly woman in business attire who asked if we’d like to try a new product and give her our opinion. We agreed, and her assistant served us a plate of Chicken McNuggets and samples of the proposed sauces. They did not have the name yet. We tried all of it and did our best pre-teen “talking to adults” voices as we agreed that they were good; that the barbecue and mustard sauces were our favorites, and that we “weren’t sure” how many we would want at once (“maybe ten”). We each got coupons as payment. For years after that, we had a joke about how we, personally, were responsible for the whole phenomenon.
That is a fantastic story. I think you and your friends are fully entitled to keep taking credit, especially since ten McNuggets eventually became an actual order size. You may have been more influential than you realized.
"Onion nugget" is too literal & governmental/institutional, ya need to create allure & interest by callin em Lil Bloomies or Tangy Poppers or somethin.
Wow, it's incredible the level of influence that McDonald's had over our entire chicken production process. I would mix hot mustard and honey to create hot-honey-mustard.

I worked at McDonalds in 1984-85 and McNuggets were the bomb. As a grill guy, it was a time saver to make a batch v. running burgers “12 on the turn”.
