Among my very earliest TV memories are the cartoon ads. I'd offer "A nice Hawaiian punch" to others, but I don't remember getting any takers, lol. Everyone knew what that was.
Come for the cool history lesson, stay for the incredible 90 second DEVO/MJ adjacent video with absolutely pitch-perfect late 80s production design. I somehow stumbled through the decade without seeing it, so that little nugget of media was like an early Christmas present.
We were allowed to have the powdered version only (and it was severely watered down to cut down on the sugar). I definitely remember "How about a nice Hawaiian Punch?" ads from the 1970s, and I know we went to Sea World in 1976, but I don't remember seeing that village either! I have never seen that Mark Mothersbaugh ad, even though 1987 was prime time for me and TV (I was 19-20), so maybe it never aired in Canada!? It reminds me of Max Headroom, or Herbie Hancock's "Rock-it".
This was a really cool exploration of the history of the brand, thank you! Interesting that Tahiti Treat is still around - obviously copied from Hawaiian Punch!
Missing out on the Sea World Experience makes me sad. They had all sorts of fun drink in addition to the audio-animatronic band. I must have missed it, no way I would forget seeing that.
Hawaiian Punch is one of the most refreshing drinks you can have after being outside on a summer day. I remember getting it from the vending machine after sports practice in school and it was heaven in a can.
A staple of my grandmother’s refrigerator.
Whatever's on Punchy's head, I gotta believe it was inspired by Bullwinkle (or vice versa)

All the boys on the playground went through a phase of Hawaiian Punch’ing each other.

Glad you liked that, once you make the connection to DEVO, its difficult to not almost hear it as a DEVO work.

It's got that little kick that makes it soooooooooooooooo much better than Kool-Aid.
I have a drinking fountain in my house that only dispenses original Hawaiian Punch.
