In 1984, Fraggle Rock's Traveling Matt took a trip to an arcade. The episode not only provided a hilarious segment, but captured a historic Canadian arcade during its heyday.
Sigh...memories (of other arcades...and dreaming of seeing this one in its 80s prime).
I don't know how you spotted Berzerk anywhere. I don't recognize it.
I remember playing Berzerk at home but often passing it at the arcade. I'd tell myself I didn't need to pay to play the arcade version once I had the home version. It was one of those games (and I listened to a bit of your podcast--that brought guys together, even though it lacked the tag-team aspect which would have been nice.
Looking at that (what might be Zaxxon) joystick, you can see the erosion on top, probably from greasy hands that just ate pizza before playing. I doubt kids generated enough sweat to do that. [I didn't know sweaty hands until my late teens.]
Now, I want some pizza and a dip in the arcade pool.
I just watched this segment. Thanks for the recommendation. I think it’s obvious why that kid was having such a bad time playing Space Invaders. It’s clearly broken.
Plus ‘Traveling Matt’ was a great pun

Zero Hour is pretty rare! Honestly, I don't think I've seen it until this video!

This was lovely! It makes me want to revisit other classic shows with location elements.
After watching this episode recently, it is wonderful to read this behind the scenes look into where it was filmed. This has made my day!
Thanks for the inspiration. It opened up a subject I knew nothing about.
