George A Romero-Saturday-Frights-Podcast-Episode-068

Saturday Frights Podcast Ep. 68 (George A Romero)

Friends, today marks the 1st year Anniversary of the passing of George A Romero. So it only felt proper for the Projectionist and myself to get together and record a new episode of the Saturday Frights Podcast. Much like we did when discussing the late and great Tobe Hooper, we have tried to cover the films of George A Romero as well as providing personal thoughts on his legacy.
George A Romero - Director

While I mention it in the podcast itself, in my youth I was influenced by the films of George A Romero. The first film I watched in my youth by the Director… well, it might surprise you. At the very least it caused no small amount of laughter from the Projectionist, which should come as no shock to you whatsoever.

In addition this podcast is a little longer than our standard fare – clocking in at just a little over an hour. During that time we share some vintage audio treats for your listening pleasure. While of course trying to give you some entertaining information about George’s early career in the field of television commercials!

Besides being joined by Rockford Jay of the Saturday Frights Facebook Page. We share some interesting trivia regarding Romero as well as interviews – such as the Director’s entry in Robert K. Elder’s The Film That Changed My Life: 30 Directors On Their Epiphanies In The Dark. Furthermore we also share a brief snippet of the interview with George by Tim Robey of The Telegraph. What reason? Why Romero wasn’t exactly a fan of AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Saturday Frights Podcast Ep. 67 (The Howling Man)

Back by popular demand…maybe? We have a brand new episode of the Saturday Frights Podcast. This time the Projectionist and myself discuss The Howling Man. Truly one of the best episodes of the legendary Twilight Zone television series. Of course one of those reasons is it was written by Charles Beaumont. Adapted from the short story by Beaumont also entitled The Howling Man.

Certainly in this episode we give a full synopsis of The Howling Man. Touching upon not just the talented writer that Charles Beaumont was. But in addition we discuss the very talented crew that was featured in the 1960 episode. Such as H.M. Wynant, Robin Hughes, as well as John Carradine.
The Howling Man - John Carradine

A brief synopsis of the story. An American, who shortly after World War I is on a walking tour of Europe. While traveling he becomes lost and finds himself seeking shelter in a hermitage. Which I might add appears to house a pitiful individual…The Howling Man.
