With this latest Matinee offering for the Saturday Fright Podcast, the Projectionist and myself are tackling Nightmare Cinema. This episode offers up our thoughts on the new horror anthology film with LIGHT SPOILERS – just enough information we hope that you’ll be find your curiosity piqued enough to check out Nightmare Cinema for yourself. If you follow the Saturday Frights Podcast page over on Facebook you know this is a film that we’ve been pretty excited for since it was announced a year or two ago. There are five reasons we’ve been chomping at the bit to get a chance to see this horror anthology and those are… Joe Dante, David Slade, Ryuhei Kitamura, Alejandro Brugues, and of course Mick Garris!
In fact in the episode itself we let you hear a brief clip from a special Trailers from Hell that features none other than Mick Garris (The Stand, Masters of Horror). As promised I’m including in this post for this new Matinee podcast – there aren’t really any spoilers and quite frankly it’s great to hear how Nightmare Cinema came to be – although there is a little salty language at the end of this trailer – so be warned.
In addition I mentioned in the show that both Mick Garris and Alejandro Brugues (Juan of the Dead) were guests in the latest Shock Waves podcast – it’s a great show for what it’s worth – just remember that it’s not a clean cast – the language used by the Shock Waves group is not safe for work.
I know I have mentioned this before but these Matinee episodes are intended to clock in around 10 to 15 minutes – little bonus shows. This one for Nightmare Cinema is nearly 30 minutes, so basically it’s like your standard episode. There are some audio treats but for this show, the Projectionist and myself stay mostly on point – sharing our feelings of the Horror Anthology.
If you have any suggestions for topics you would like for us to cover in a future episode – or possibly you have comments on the current show itself, email them to me at VicSage@Retroist.com.
