In 1979 most of the kids my age were still riding high (Have we ever come down?) on the imagination fuel that was Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica. To add fuel to that fire was the television revival…although it was released as a theatrical movie first…of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, starring Gil Gerard, Erin Gray, Tim O’Connor and about every celebrity you can think of from Gary Coleman to Sid Haig!

The other day I was flipping through the Projectionist’s collection of Famous Monsters of Filmland and came upon the ad you see up top selling a Buck Rogers Flight Helmet and Starfighter set! I would have absolutely loved to have owned this in my youth…and honestly I would still love to have it.
Thankfully the Toy Nerd site has plenty of photos of what you would have gotten if ordered this for yourself.
This is almost as awesome as the episode Planet of the Slave Girls…where Buck Rogers (Gil Gerard) had his bacon saved by Brigadier Gordon, played by Buster Crabbe who portrayed Flash Gordon as well as Buck Rogers back in the day.
