You talk to people now about phone messages and they look at you like you are crazy. Who leaves messages? Better yet, who even uses a phone anymore to make phone calls? Well, not too long ago, messages and machines were a big deal and making them as simple to use as possible was a long road that led right into the new millennium. Along the way we had all sorts of buttons and devices. Eventually many machines just went with one single buttons to do everything. In this ad from the late 1980’s you can see how this amazing technology was being sold.
This one buttons was especially good when you had a lot of messages to skip. I rarely did, but it was nice to have the option just in case my popularity increased.
