Trust VCRs built by Hitachi

This commercial from Canada is pretty typical of tech related advertising from the mid-eighties. My favorite part of though and I think the one worth rewatching is the shot of the VCR head. You get this sparkling piece of tech, beautifully filmed and then they add a nice bit of animation to illustrate how it works. It is just wonderful.

The first time I disassembled a VCR, I thought that slanted head was broken. It wasn’t until much later that I found out that was how it was able to record video without the tape running through in a few seconds.
