If you got to pick a mascot to represent softness, you could do a lot worse than an adorable teddy bear. The Snuggle Bear has been the mascot for his eponymous fabric softener since 1983. This classic commercial is from 1984 and is the earliest one I have been able to find. It is not clear who has done the voice over the years, but in the early years it seemed to most likely have been Corinne Orr who has had quite a career as a voice talent. More recently the voice had been provided by Monkee and former “Circus Boy”, Micky Dolenz.
Here is another one from a year later in 1985. This is probably the commercial I remember most.
