A Fresh Take on the Arcade Classic, Ghouls ‘n Ghosts

Ghouls ‘n Ghosts in another one those underrated arcade classics that I keep meaning to reacquaint myself with (if only I can find it in a local arcade). In this piece called, “Underwear Crusade” by artist Orioto (Mikaël Aguirre), we get a new more painterly take on the game. I do not know how this would work as an art style of a reboot of the game, but it is so moody looking I cannot help but think it would be an amazing direction to take.

  1. Atari Adventure Square says:

This painting in my living room would be the perfect Litmus test for identifying kindred spirits.

You don’t say a word, let them look at it.
If the next few words the utter isn’t “Ghouls and Ghosts” or “Ghouls and Goblins”, you can simply nod politely at their response and sigh.

If they identify the source, well, as the Toy Story song goes, “You got a friend in me”.
