Minimalist Poster For John Carpenter’s The Thing

If I was forced to make a top five list of my favorite movie posters by the legendary Drew Struzan, his work on the theatrical one-sheet for John Carpenter’s The Thing would be in that top five. I’ve always found the poster to be visually striking, I mean you wouldn’t be able to walk past it in a theater lobby without stopping to give it a look, right?

So when I stumbled across this minimalist illustration for the film by Ashton Person over at deviantART I felt I had to share it with you all. Taking the blood test scene, the artist has crafted what I feel is an incredibly arresting poster, the Thing blood caught in mid-leap from the petri dish in MacReady’s hand.

"Now I'll show you what I already know."

A big thanks to IMP Awards for the original Drew Struzan poster image above.
