In this commercial for Embassy Suites from 1987, Garfield starts off as his usual grumpy self, but soon the charms of a quality hotel stay starts to wear him down. How is he won over? Well, Garfield is impressed by the size of the rooms, the music in the elevators, the free breakfast and of course the swimming pool (which all cats love).
Garfield has been a spokescat for many products over the years, but I always thought he was underused for such a recognizable icon. Not a lot of comic/cartoon characters can claim widespread recognition, but Garfield is one of them. Perhaps Jim Davis is more discerning than I thought?
