Are you Chicken enough to play Activision’s Freeway?

Freeway, designed by David Crane, was one of Activision’s earlier games. It features a chicken trying to get across the road and because of this has often been compared unfairly to Frogger, which was in development at the same time. The game did benefit from Frogger’s strong performance in the arcades since Freeway was available on the Atari 2600 before Frogger was ported to the system.

Before I knew anything about the gameplay or even compare it to Frogger, I was sold on the game with ads like this one that seemed to run in just about every comic book and magazine I read at the time.

It was never one of my favorites but you’ve got to appreciate a game created around a corny riddle. I played it enough that I got the patch for it…
