Batteries were the Achilles heal to my enjoyment of so much technology growing up. Everything I owned seemed to gobble them up and since my family only bought batteries a few times a year, I was constantly shifting them around from device to device. We almost never bought name brand batteries. So when commercials for batteries capable of adding 31 hours of life to a boombox would show up in primetime, all I could do was drool over the possibilities.
