I think that if I had any sort of artistic talent I would be drawn to the trend of altering paintings to include pop culture references. There is just something about seeing an AT-AT added to a beach scene or in the case of this piece by autogeography, the Thundercats Lair added to a landscape, that just puts a huge smile on my face. I have heard that some artists will do this to public art that hangs in hotels or sell them to goodwill, but in all my digging and looking around I have never seen one in the wild, only online.
Some of those pieces can cost you a pretty penny (they are much improved), but you can pick up a print of the Thundercats Lair Altered Painting for the bargain price of $24.00.
