At some point in the nineties my family started buying our electronics and appliances at specialty or big box stores, but before that we bought many things at Sears. As you can in this ad from the mid-eighties, Sears was pushing their electronic’s department pretty hard and it really was a joy to visit one.
In addition to the video game console test units and computers, they had rows of color television of varying sizes, stereos of tremendous power and small electronics to drool over. All of that made it a destination for me when my family had to go to Sears for anything.
