Dorothy Hamill for Clairol Short & Sassy

In the 1970s, even though a lot of women wore their hair short, Olympic figure skating champion Dorothy Hamill seemed to have a lock on the short hair look. So many people wanted to emulate her that Clairol locked here in as the face of their new product Short & Sassy in 1976. Three years later and ads with Hamill in them were still running in magazines and newspapers.

Check out Dorothy’s signature. Is she trying too hard to be adorable?
