This 1979 Star Trek Pinball Table By Bally Is Awesome!

I’m not sure Mr. Spock much less the Vulcan race would find the fun to be had in this 1979 pinball table logical…but that is why I was always more of a Dr. McCoy fan, I give into my emotions too easy perhaps but I know a great looking table when I see one.

Sadly I’ve never had the opportunity to play this particular table in the wilds of the arcades of my youth, and in truth I wasn’t aware of its existence until I was looking around the interwebs this morning for another Star Trek related item.

Thanks to the Arcade Flyer Archive though we can check out the groovy artwork that the table had, I mean just look at that backglass with Kirk, Spock, Uhura, and McCoy! Though I wasn’t able to find a picture it seems that the original artwork provided on the table featured the crew in their classic uniforms from the television series but the studio decided they should be decked out in their new duds from Star Trek: The Motion Picture!

I absolutely love the artwork of the Enterprise firing on the Klingon Bird of Prey on the side of the machine.

Now that you are familiar with some of the features for the Star Trek pinball table why not take a moment and watch this video over on Jeff Miller’s YouTube page to see it in action? The table in this video in fact was fully restored from the ground up by Mr. Miller!

  1. Les has this exact machine in his office on Hardcore Pawn.

  2. Not a bird of prey. It’s an odd perspective of a D-7

  3. We had that machine in our basement, a couple of months ago, and my father sold it to a friend. I didn’t get to play much since the flippers stopped working. But the friend we sold it to is a tinkerer, so he might be able to fix it.
