It’s in the Way That You Use It

Er, maybe it’s in the way that you wear it, actually.

File this under: things I remembered wrong from when I was a kid.

These two famous people are not wearing the same T-shirt. Looking at the above images, we know this to be true!

But if I were to meet you on the street in a year or so, and ask you “Hey, friend! what T-shirt was Janet Jackson wearing in the Pleasure Principle video,” you might be inclined to say “Oh yea, the VINCE shirt that Tom Cruise wore in The Color of Money, right? Awesome!” And then we’d tip the brims of our hats at one another and say “Good day!”

One thing that is undeniably true: Cruise and Janet BOTH have some sweet moves. Who can forget Vincent Lauria’s hustling hustle (with pool stick in hand!) as he tricks Moselle outta some sweet cash, set to the Warren Zevon tune “Werewolves of London.”

And then there’s Janet. Miss Jackson (coz I’m nasty) displays some athletic moves herself, toppling over chairs and doing back flips.

On a separate note: I always try to think up new, fun, and cheap Halloween costumes, and if they have any pop cultural influences—then that’s even better! I think we’ve got 2 great contenders for next Halloween right here.

It's all just pops and clicks within the vinyl groove I'm listening to. Music, movies, commercials, action figures, cassette tapes...anything that you left in your parents' attic when you moved. I want to talk about it. -DJ Darko, Your Pop Culture Mixologist

  1. If you asked me that question a year ago, my answer would be the same as now. What’s the color of money ? And I don’t know what Pleasure Principle is.
