The NBA…in Glorious Tesh-O-Vision

The NBA playoffs are about to start, but I just can’t get into them anymore. Have I grown out of my interest in sports as adulthood took hold? Can I not find the time to watch the games with the increased responsibilities of career and fatherhood? Not really. I just can’t get myself worked up into a proper lather since 2002, which is when the NBA moved from NBC to ABC, and in doing so dropped John Tesh’s kickass “Roundball Rock” theme song.

Here’s a fantastically dramatic intro to the 1992 NBA Finals from Bob Costas, clearly the NBA and NBA broadcasting’s golden age. (The Teshness starts at 1:47.)

From the middle of nowhere in the Pacific Northwest, I contribute to the Retroist, write for trivia publications, and blog about music in a humorous fashion. I feel about "Back to the Future" the way you feel about "Star Wars." Also, I'm married and have a child (sorry ladies, orphans).
