My Grandmother used to lecture me about how and I ate my candy bars. She would tell me that they were not meant as treats or desserts, but instead as a meal replacement if you were too busy. I had no idea what she was talking about. Nor could I understand how she could keep a box of candy bars in her cupboard for months. This classic Milky Way ad sort of goes along the same line as my Grandmother’s thinking. You pull out a candy bar when you need a quick boost, much like soda pop was advertised as a tonic to get you through the low parts of the day.
I must have been always fully energized because I think for a couple of years back when I was growing up, especially once I got my paper route, I was living on a sneaky diet of coke and peanut M&Ms.
