I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to the question myself but we certainly wish Leonard Nimoy a happy belated birthday! The famous actor celebrated his 83rd birthday last Wednesday…though I don’t know if William Shatner showed up with a orangutan again like this in this photo courtesy of Will McCrabb’s Twitter Pic.

I assume this photo is from the set of Star Trek the Motion Picture. The mystery of the orangutan though…is worthy of being on Nimoy’s In Search Of…

Update: Will McCrabb has explained what is going in this photo!
“It was brought to the set by Mr. Shatner as a birthday present for the freshman director, Mr. Nimoy.”

  1. Atari Adventure Square says:

I think the initial concept of ST:TMP was the crew of the Enterprise following V’ger to the Planet of the Apes.

But the table-read between the cast went awry when the orangutan went all fanboy over Nimoy and the whole idea was shelved in favor of something a little less bananas.

    Or so I’ve heard.

    Or so I wish.
