Saturday Frights – Calabrese Video Vault!

Hey creeps, welcome back to the good ol’ Retroist Vault! Now, usually I lay a real slice of 110% fright flick cheese upon your eyeballs, but tonight I’m gonna take things in a different die-rection! Let’s kick this off with a question: Have ya ever wondered what it would be like if there was a musical group comprised of brothers that sang exclusively about the things that scream out in the pale moonlight? Well, they exist, and they’re kinda like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles…except they aren’t teenagers, mutants, or turtles, but they do have some sick fighting moves and they can **** up a slice o’ pizza like champs…oh and there’s only 3 of them! I am of course talking about the one and only Calabrese!

So let’s take a look at how the ol’ retro business has influenced these cool cats:

Check out this slab o’ sexy influenced by everything from legendary Ed Wood classic Plan 9 From Outer Space, “youth gone wild” flicks of the 50’s, and Bride of Frankenstein to name a few (also, this video was directed by Brian Pulido, creator of 90’s horror comic stalwarts Lady Death and Evil Ernie!)…

Like that one? Then behold the majesty of this creepy cornucopia; a video that’s equal parts Spaghetti Western, werewolf movie, and mild expletives…oh yeah, there’s some ‘chuckin’ in there as well…

How about this gem? Nintendo meets Mad Max minus the cars but with 100% more irradiated vampire! Oh yeah, there’s a duel featuring laser shooting guitars. I believe this is just a typical Thursday for Calabrese…

Finally I command you to enjoy this clip! It features ninjas, doughnuts and the best vampire staking of all time!

That’s just a smattering of what these guys bring, and I love every monstrous minute of it, and I hope you ghouls did too!!! Hopefully I can get these fine finks to come and talk to us in the future…keep your frightful fingers crossed!
