In the early days of television, it was routine for the stars of a show to appear in commercials for its sponsor. Such was the case with Adventures of Superman and Kellogg’s. The cereal company initially wanted an ad that showed Clark and Lois Lane having breakfast together, but then thought the better of it, with the implication being that they’d had adult relations the night prior, and they weren’t married, and this was the 1950s. So the ad instead showed Clark Kent and Jimmy Olsen eating breakfast together. Problem solved!
