Superman and the Car

I’m sure you’re all familiar with appearance of Superman on the cover of Action Comics #1. The 1938 iconic car lift from Joe Shuster remains a timeless piece and I feel that, without it, the Man of Steel might never have become so popular.

Artist Kerry Callen is obviously a fan, as the Superman and the Car image below clearly shows. I’ve seen alternatives to this cover before but none have given insight into the preceding event.

There is plenty more fun to be found on Kerry’s blog, including Why Batman Doesn’t Smile.

If you’d prefer a proper re-imagined cover, then you can’t go far wrong with this stunning version from Matthew Bartlett.
