Rare Bob Clampett John Carter of Mars Test Animation


In 1936, animator Bob Clampett approached Edgar Ride Burroughs about making cartoon shorts based on “John Carter of Mars”. Burroughs agreed and together with Burroughs son, they worked for a year creating material for this ambitious effort. Sadly nothing ever came of what could have been a remarkable piece of entertainment. But this footage gives us insight into what could have been.

    I found this when the movie came out. It’s such good animation and it’s a shame nothing was done with it.
