Hey, friends! We hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving day but we wanted you to know that the new 80s Anthologies podcast is up for your listening pleasure and this time Doug McCoy, Claymation Werewolf, Phishbon3s, and I discuss the Amazing Stories special 1986 event episode entitled “Thanksgiving”.

Amazing Stories - Thanksgiving
This episode of Amazing Stories is a little different than the typical tales told on that anthology series, it is much darker than what you would have originally seen. It stars David Carradine (Kung-Fu, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2) as Calvin, a grumpy and cruel man who seems to take take more than a little delight in verbally abusing his stepdaughter, Dora (Kyra Sedgwick), while he tries to eke out a living in a secluded desert town. Trying desperately to find water just to survive they uncover a deep well that after a little trial and error reveals a startling discovery. When Calvin and Dora lower a length of rope with a flashlight attached to it they are shocked when something tugs the end of the rope…upon raising it they find an odd looking sack tied to where the flashlight once had been and inside that sack is peculiar shaped treasures made out of pure gold!

Dora is a kind-hearted and lonely young girl that sees whatever is at the bottom of the well as friendly but Calvin sees only an opportunity to get rich by sending items down the well in exchange for gold. Now what would happen though if that gold stopped coming up the well?
