Growing up in the early 70s I can remember playing with several games from the Smethport Toy Company. I had the sports based games that you see below. Football, baseball and basketball. The games were made with a cardboard back, covered by a plastic bubble and the little metal flipper at the bottom. You would flip the ball to either make a basket, a field goal or get a hit or homerun.
Yes these games were pretty simplistic but the play value was very high to a grade school kid that loved sports. My personal favorite was the basketball game. Another great thing about the games was the cheap price and there were no parts to lose. The games were perfect to take along on a road trip in the car. I quickly tossed these games aside though when I got my very first Mattel handheld electronic football game later on in the 70s.
