Global Quest – The Internet in the Classroom (1993)


In the early 1990s, the Internet was not a widespread phenomenon at all. This video was made back then and was meant to show kids in grade K-12 just how exciting a place the internet could be. What I marvel at when I watch this is just how excited people were to just be connected globally. For instance they talk about one on one communication with people from around the world who are available to them at the flip of a switch or the pressing of a key. I think this is something we largely take for granted nowadays, but having been an early adopter I remember telling my Mother about how I was chatting with people in far away lands like, “California” and how exciting it was to get questions like, “what is the weather like there?” and “what is an earthquake like?”
