My sister went through a psychedelic poster phase and her walls were covered with all sorts of what my Mother referred to as “hippie stuff” (stuff was my word..not her’s). One of the things she had on her wall, next to a giant plastic yellow butterfly was this colorful poster that said “Love”. I hadn’t even thought about it until I was looking through art books a few years ago and saw that it was work by the artist, Peter Max. It was kind of a big deal as far as posters went and I guess it was super popular.
My sister eventually went more Rock n’ Roll and the “hippie stuff” wound up in the attic or the trash. I do not remember what she put on her walls after the Butterfly and Love poster came down, which I guess demonstrates what a powerful design this was.
