1984 Star Wars Television Premier

In February of 1984, Star Wars finally made its US broadcast premier on CBS. Was it a big deal? Well for Star Wars fans, especially ones without VCRs, it was a huge deal. It was a big enough deal that Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, was called upon to host it. I love the new technology that have evolved from the birth of home video, but I did still miss when a movie being released on TV was an event. So the next time you decide to watch Star Wars, why not load up this little gem on YouTube first and help get yourself in the mood to watch a very special film.
