Here is an interesting interview of Andre the Giant on David Letterman back in the 1980s. I learned a few things about Andre from this appearance. He had a hard time getting comfortable when traveling in Japan, he owned a restaurant in Montreal and a home in North Carolina. I lived in North Carolina for a few years and drove through the town he lived in (and where his ashes were scattered) once on a road trip with no clue he had lived there. I did not see any claims made on Andre from town signage, so maybe his life there was low-key. With all the attention he probably received wherever he went, I would like to think that in a small town in North Carolina, he could relax and just be himself.
