I paid very little attention to clothing stores in the 1980s. When I went to the mall they were just the areas I sped through as I went from toy store to arcade. My exposure was limited to when my sister’s dragged me into them or when I saw commercials on TV.
Since I had no reference for what people were wearing, I was sometimes unsure of the purpose of the commercials. Like in this one from Merry-Go-Round, are these the cloths I would have found in the store or would it turn me into a person like the ones in the commercial? Either way, I pass.

A retail outlet on the beach? Apparently the owners of this store never bothered to research what happens to a house when it is built on the sand. I hear storms off in the distance…
