I want to thank everyone for all of their great suggestions for this week’s Saturday Frights pick on the Retroist Facebook Page. We’ve picked the fantastic silent film inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s literary masterpiece ‘The Call of Cthulhu’! This film was produced and filmed using the official “Mythoscope” process by the mad geniuses of The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society and ended up being an official selection of more than 30 Film Festivals Worldwide back in 2005. While not Retro in terms of the age of the film I believe you’ll agree that there ability to mimic a 1920 silent film as well as the actual story itself lends itself rather well to Saturday Frights.
When you are finished watching this short film you might want to follow the link provided up top to secure a DVD copy for yourself. I received it a couple of years ago for Christmas and even have the movie poster hanging proudly in my living room.
Thanks as always to the offspring of Abdul Alhazred himself, Sean Hartter, for the awesome artwork you see at the very top. Make sure to stop by his blog to check out his latest masterpieces.
