Behind The Scenes: The Wizard Of Oz (1939)

I happened to catch the trailer for the upcoming Sam Raimi helmed Oz: The Great and Powerful the other day and it got me to thinking of a rumor I had heard about the original Wizard of Oz film. It was said that Judy Garland wore booties in shots where her feet wouldn’t be seen as to avoid wear and tear on the ruby slippers, now thanks to The Judy Room with this behind the scenes shot with Judy Garland and Jack Haley we can see for ourselves that rumor was true. The Judy Room also offered this bit of trivia, another reason Judy wore the booties was to make her appear shorter than the rest of her fellow cast.
